Marie Takahashi – alto, Baptiste Vayer – guitare électrique et voix : deux points d’interrogation. Mais avec Thierry Waziniak – batterie et électronique – la lumière se fait. Car que ce soit avec Gaël Mével dans son trio ou quintette, dans le Quatuor Alta, Trio Rives, Le Cercle, Kairos ou le Constellative Trio, il reste une constante fascinante du NowJazz français.

Les liens avec Vayer ne se trouvent ni dans sa Bucolic Guitar, ni dans ses escapades rock avec Tys, Sir Nash ou Soul Brothers. Takahashi, venue de Sapporo à Berlin, a déjà collaboré avec Wonderbach (un projet musical) sur le label Coax, et fut partenaire de jeu d’Antonio Borghini dans Eponji, ainsi qu’avec Simon Rose, Frangenheim & Rupp ou Ligia Liberatori.

Aujourd’hui, elle se retrouve en convergence au sein du trio Doctor Tavawa, guidé par un Instinct Sonoïta, avec la fragile acoustique de Wonderbach en arrière-pensée. Mais ici, le son se fait plus exploratoire, bruitiste, râpeux, pointilliste, ponctué d’automatisme électronique et de l’erratisme guitare de Vayer, toujours source de surprise. Sur Fine Extinction, son chant à peine audible, surréaliste, ajoute une touche étrange et captivante.

C’est un monde sonore ciselé du bout des doigts, fait de petits gestes, étouffé, mystérieux et fugitif, parfois presque entièrement retenu.
Une musique pour les oreilles des petits rongeurs, des insectes, de la nuit et du vent, inspirant des lignes poétiques comme :

Ô vie, unis ton souffle à nos prières.
Le ciel est une bulle où défilent de grands rêves en fleurs.

— ce qui, bien sûr, résonne encore plus délicieusement en français.

The links with Vayer are not to be found in his Bucolic Guitar, nor in his rock adventures with Tys, Sir Nash, or Soul Brothers. Takahashi, who came from Sapporo to Berlin, has already collaborated with Wonderbach (a musical project) on the Coax label, and has played with Antonio Borghini in Eponji, as well as with Simon Rose, Frangenheim & Rupp, and Ligia Liberatori.

Today, she converges within the trio Doctor Tavawa, guided by an Instinct Sonoïta, with the fragile acoustic memory of Wonderbach in the background. But here, the sound becomes more exploratory, noise-oriented, gritty, pointillistic—punctuated by electronic automatism and the erratic guitar of Vayer, always a source of surprise. On Fine Extinction, her barely audible, surreal singing adds a strange and captivating touch.

This is a finely chiseled sonic world, crafted at the fingertips—made of small gestures, muted, mysterious, and fleeting, sometimes almost entirely held back.
Music for the ears of small rodents, insects, the night, and the wind, inspiring poetic lines such as:

O life, join your breath to our prayers.
The sky is a bubble where great dreams in bloom drift by.

— which, of course, resonates all the more deliciously in French.
